Save in development costs and achieve a faster time to market. The PicoPort-E allows OEMs to easily network-enable their products for a variety of Ethernet and serial networks.
The PicoPort-E is a multiprotocol communication module for Ethernet and serial networks. The module features dual-port Ethernet (allowing daisy-chain Ethernet topologies), two independent serial ports, and up to 14 programmable GPIO pins, supporting analog and digital input and output functions. Field configuration can be performed via the module's OEM-customizable embedded web page. The PicoPort-E is designed to work stand-alone (in discrete sensors, for example) or with a host processor.
The PicoPort-E can be thought of as a "gateway-on-a-chip", where host communication and/or I/O signal data is converted to an Ethernet network protocol (such as Modbus/TCP or BACnet/IP), and optionally a serial network protocol (such as Modbus RTU or BACnet MS/TP) simultaneously, providing seamless data exchange between the network(s) and host device. PLC-style logical, arithmetic and filtering data manipulation operations, called Database Logic, allow the construction of complex autonomous data conditioning and control functions. The PicoPort-E is configured by the OEM via USB or Ethernet using the Windows-based ICC Configuration Studio for any of the supported and proven network protocols. The Ethernet and serial ports can be configured for multiple protocols which can be selected, enabled, or disabled by an end-user. Custom protocol drivers are also possible using the versatile Generic Socket and Generic Serial drivers.
The PicoPort-E is field configurable and upgradable. On-site Ethernet discovery and configuration of Ethernet settings can be performed using the Windows-based Device Discovery Tool. Run-time network parameters can be set directly by a host processor or via the module's embedded webpage. The webpage configuration streamlines user configuration and requires no special software, only a standard web browser. It provides configuration of all applicable network settings, device settings, user settings, managing device updates, and shows current run-time information. The web page can also be self-branded and customized by OEMs to provide a cohesive product appearance to their customers.
The PicoPort-E comes with lifetime free firmware updates including any new protocol drivers developed in the future. And of course all ICC hardware products include free unlimited technical support.
